If you install KB5028228 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller, this can stop you from being able to log in remotely via RDP.
To fix this, I uninstalled the update.
I tried to find more info about this update, but all I could find is this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/july-11-2023-kb5028228-monthly-rollup-b7ee35a2-91ab-4e36-8e46-7c616d1bd4e4
Nothing is mentioned about the issues with Remote Desktop after installing KB5028228, but I do see that Windows Server 2012 R2 goes End of Life on 10/10/23, so I wonder if the update (which seems to also be available for other operating systems) hasn’t been tested as thoroughly on the soon-to-be EOL OS…
