Today I was unable to access a domain share (\\domainname\share). In my case, I was unable to access the domain share because the computer was not set to use the correct DNS server. I troubleshooted this by attempting to ping the domain. When I couldn’t ping the domain by name, I got an error back that eluded to the fact that the computer couldn’t resolve the DNS of the domain name. After resolving this, I was able to access the domain share.
