      Here’s the location of the GPO settings to show file extensions in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10. It’s actually a group policy preference to show file extensions, located:

      User Configuration -> Preferences -> Control Panel Settings -> Folder Options

      You have to right click and go New, then you’ll have the option to enable or disable show file extensions using GPO.
