When connecting a vNIC to a VM in VMware vSphere 5.0 and 5.1, you get:
Invalid configuration for device 0
This is a bug that’s fixed by update 2. There is a workaround, which is to remove the vNIC, reboot the VM then re-add the NIC with a new MAC address (happens automatically).
