When trying to do an FTP command, the FTP client hangs on this message:
Opening ascii mode data connection
If your FTP client hangs on opening ascii mode data connection, this is almost always due to the firewall. Either the local firewall is blocking the traffic or a remote firewall is blocking it. Unfortunately firewalls are complicated when it comes to FTP. I suggest you do some research in this area.
