Wondering what the difference between VMware Workstation is? This article outlines the difference between VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation Vs VMware Player.
VMware Fusion
VMware Fusion is basically VMware Workstation for Mac users, enabling them to run VMs (Linux, Windows and Mac) on their Mac. I don’t know why they didn’t just call it VMware Workstation Mac Edition or VMware Workstation for Mac
VMware Workstation
VMware Workstation enables you to run VMs on your Windows computer. It’s a Type 2 Hypervisor. VMs in VMware Workstation can be used with VMware ESXi / VMware vSphere and there’s a bit of interoperability between the products. VMware Workation costs about a hundred bucks a license and has some fancy things you can do around networking.
VMware Player
VMware Player enables you to run VMs on your Windows computer. It’s a Type 2 Hypervisor. VMs in VMware player aren’t very interoperable with VMware’s other software and you can’t do anything too fancy with VMware Player. VMware Player is free.
