Bit of an opinion poll, this one… but What is the best Antivirus software available to the market for free in 2014?

My vote for best free antivirus software of 2014 would be for Microsoft Essentials, being an MS fan-boy :p

I used AVG for years, then switched to Avira because AVG required me to do a fair bit of manual intervention when some updates came out. I’ve been very fond of Avira and had no problems with it since.

I’ve also used Avast! which I have a positive feeling about, but I think that Avira is best for useability and detection rate.
