Windows 8 and above has an AppReadiness service. The purpose of the AppReadiness service is to query the Windows Store for category names that are associated with Windows Store Apps running on the computer and to confirm that Windows Store Apps are ready to run on the computer (checking that the user account has an associated Microsoft account if required and other such tasks). Specifically, the AppReadiness services gets apps ready for use the first time a user signs in to their PC and when adding new apps.
