      ESXi 6 shows the following warning in the event log:

      Remote access for ESXi local user account ‘root’ has been locked for 120 seconds after X failed login attempts

      This is a new feature in ESXi 6 and can be configured with these advanced option settings on the host:

      Security.AccountLockFailures – Max number of failured login attempts before the account is locked
      Security.AccountUnlockTime – Amount of time the account is locked for (default 120 seconds)

      If you’re constantly getting warnings about remote access for ESXi local user accounts being locked out, then you probably need to disable SSH on the host (best practice anyway).
