There’s a new type of patch available called Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows, which you shouldn’t blindly install.
If you are a standard computer user, I suggest you don’t install patches that have the words Preview of… in them. This is because these patches are for IT administrators to test. The good news is that preview patches don’t have security fixes in them, and you are safe to go ahead and ignore them.
If you are an IT administrator, you may also ignore preview patches if you don’t specifically need them, and you are deploying all patches to test groups before rolling them out to the organisation.
I suggest you only install these patches if you are experiencing specific issues that the patches fix, or are looking to deploy some new functionality in the future and want to test the functionality delivered in the patch on a bleeding edge basis, ready for deploy either as bleeding edge or when the tested patch comes out.
