When trying to open a VM in VMware Workstation, you get this error:
VMware Workstation
Unable to open file “C:\Folder\VM.vmdk”:
Insufficient permission to access file.
To fix this file access error, close VMware Workstation, right click the VMware Workstation shortcut icon and click Properties. Then click the Compatibility tab and tick “Run this program as an administrator”. Click OK, then launch VMware Workstation.
It should now allow you to start a VM without complaining about insufficient permission to access the file.
