Did you know that it’s possible to set up internet connection sharing between Windows 7 and Windows XP? To set up ICS between a Windows 7 PC and an XP PC:
On the Windows 7 PC:
- Connect the Windows 7 PC to the internet
- Connect the Windows XP computer through another network card, to the Windows 7 computer
- On the Windows 7 computer view the properties of the network card
- On the Sharing tab, select Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection, click OK
On the Windows XP PC:
- In the Control Panel, click Network and Internet then Internet Options
- On the Connections tab then select Never dial a connection
- Click LAN Settings
- Deselect Automatically detect settings and Use automatic configuration script under Automatic configuration
- Under Proxy server, deselect Use a proxy server for your LAN
- Click OK
The XP PC should now be able to access the internet via the Windows 7 PC though ICS.
