    By default, Windows 8.1 doesn’t have hibernate enabled on the shutdown options. Here’s how to get the hibernate option in Windows 8.1:

    1. Click Start
    2. Type powercfg.cpl and press enter
      ❗ Note that this is not the same as powercrfg.exe!
    3. On the left hand side, click Choose what the power button does
    4. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable (There will be a UAC blue and yellow shield next to this text)
    5. Tick the option to enable Hibernate
    6. Click Save changess

    When you click Start, you will now get the option to hibernate Windows displayed in the shutdown options.
