When trying to RDP to another computer, you get this error:

      Remote Desktop Disconnected

Your Remote Desktop Session has ended.

Another User connected to the remote computer, so your connection was lost. Try connecting again, or connect technical support for assistance.

This is because by default Windows Server only allows 2 remote connections at once. If you are using terminal server, you may be allowed more simultaneous connections, but you can still get the Another User connected to the remote computer error if you don’t have enough licenses or people don’t log off the server when they’re finished.

To fix this, run mstsc /admin from the command prompt or run box, then try to connect. This will connect you to the console session. Then you can run the Task Manager and kick off all the disconnected sessions from the Users tab. You may want to inform the offending users that they should log off the server when they’re finished, rather than just close the RDP window.
