To fix this: Ensure that there are no underscores in the computerName Ensure that the computerName is a valid computer name according to Windows (isn’t longer than 15 characters and doesn’t contain invalid characters) Ensure that the computerName doesn’t contain only numbers After correcting the computerName, you should then be able to clone the VM from a template without the spec.identity.userData.computerName error.
